Four Paws provides a variety of services in the arena of dog training. Debra tailors 1-1 training to the needs of the dog, the household, and the lifestyle of your family. She provides 1-1 Online or In-Home Training.
The curriculum is divided into age categories:
All Things Puppy: Basic Manners & Life Skills- Under 6 months
It is never too early to start training with your puppy. Typically, puppies leave for their new home between 7-12 weeks of age.
All Things Puppy: Basic Manners & Life Skills is specifically designed to meet the needs of the puppy and to help with the first critical periods of socialization and gain basic & intermediate foundation skills before they hit adolescence.
All Things Puppy covers over 8 major behaviors and foundation skills to get your puppy and humans off to a good start.
It provides discussion and practices in socialization, house training, handling, and relationship building.
Foundation skills :
Sit/down stand, chewing, impulse control, door manners, settling to the mat, beginning loose leash walking, and recall.
We answer specific questions and share management tips as you work on training. 8 Sessions give the opportunity to not only teach the skills but to build “reliability” with the skills. Reliability allows your dog to demonstrate those skills in different environments with distractions and distance. Sessions are individualized based on your needs and goals for your dog.
Basic Manners & Life Skills (over 6 months- Adult)
It is never too late to start training with your dog or to refine and reinforce the skills that they know. Reinforcing and refining behaviors so they are reliable provides safety and fun for you in your dog in different situations.
Basic Manners & Life Skills is specifically designed to meet the needs of the 6 month old– adult dog. If your dog is new to your home, it will help establish skills in your daily routines and if your dog is entering adolescence, it will help you and your dog through their “teenager” period.
Basic Manners & Life Skills covers the over 8 major behaviors and foundation skills to get your dog and humans working together as a team. It provides discussion and practices in socialization, adjusting to home life, handling, and relationship building. It helps build or modify behaviors that you want for your dog to live harmoniously in your family.

Deb is an amazing dog trainer!
Deb is an amazing dog trainer! I had been working with my six-month-old Boston Terrier but needed additional help training her. I contacted Deb and she was friendly and eager to help. I had three virtual sessions and one in-person session. I was not sure how virtual dog training would be, but I thought I would give it a shot and I am glad that I did. Through virtual training, Deb was able to provide me with the necessary information, demonstrate with her dogs, and then coach me while I worked with my puppy. I learned so much and feel more confident in my abilities to train my puppy. I highly recommend Deb for anyone wanting one-on-one training for their dog.
Online Virtual Training: Are you...
-
a busy professional with limited time to attend dog classes with your pup?
-
a young family with children and want your dog to be a family dog and want the kids involved too?
-
a rural resident and have to travel too far to attend a dog class?
-
a first-time dog owner or later in life dog owner?
The benefits of Online Training are:
- Convenience: Working in your own home allows hours to be flexible without the need for travel. It is not dependent on seasonal weather changes or Public Health issues. Even if you are "under the weather," you can train your dog at home.
- Focused: Online training allows both you and your dog to be focused without distractions. Clients have indicated that they are more relaxed and can listen more attentively working in their natural environment. The dog is also training in the area where they live and spend the majority of their time. Stress is less for them too!
- Accommodates special needs: If your dog is overly shy, fearful, or reactive, it allows them to gain strong foundation skills in a safe non-distracted environment. Owners feel less stress as they help their dogs gain valuable skills.
- Free video recording of the session: How many times have you gone to a class and despite taking good notes and listening intently, you get home and cannot remember all the things you learned? With a video recording, you can review the lesson and will have access to download it to your own computer for future reference. Clients love this!
We wholeheartedly recommend Four Paws Dog Training!
I reached out to Deb when we, like so many others, adopted a puppy at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Deb was an invaluable resource as we selected a dog and prepared to introduce the pup to our 10-year-old Great Pyrenees. It was very important to us that we do the dog training thing right – Deb shared an abundance of helpful resources that were invaluable in those first few weeks. We had five one-hour sessions. Instruction was via Zoom and occurred in our home, wherever we trained our puppy. Deb observed and coached us while providing helpful feedback. After each session, we received a recording of our Zoom meetings to reference later, as well as additional resources related to that week’s lesson. We learned so much about positive methods to teach our puppy and prevent unwanted behaviors, as well as dog development in general. Deb was flexible with our crazy schedule, and did a fantastic job of engaging and supporting our teenage son throughout the process. We wholeheartedly recommend Four Paws Dog Training!

Aspen, My Therapy Dog
Aspen, my Goldendoodle, and I started working with Deb when she was 8 weeks old. Aspen was my first dog and I decided to be super ambitious and try to train her as a therapy dog. Deb was there every step of the way and supported me to help Aspen pass her therapy dog test at one year old. Everyone comments on how well behaved she is. I know I owe a huge part of that to Deb as I didn’t have a lot of dog training knowledge prior to getting her help. The knowledge Deb has given me will help me for any dogs I raise in the future and are skills I have used to help my sister train her new 8-week-old puppy. Aspen and I both love working with Deb and highly recommend her. She is the trainer I will be using in the future as she treats you and your dog like family.
